Singer/Rapper Trey Songz has covered ‘Life On Mars’ by the legendary late David Bowie for the HBO new record industry drama series ‘Vinyl’.
Trey Songz told Complex that he was asked to cover the song last summer, months before David Bowie’s passing at age 69.
“I was honored that the producers thought of such a legend and myself in the same breath,” he went on to say. “I had to do what I do best, because icons like David paved the way. After learning of his passing I knew that this was a special moment in time and this cover became my personal tribute to David.”

Trey’s version of “Life on Mars” originally recorded by David on his 1971 album “Hunky Dory” will be airing this Sunday on the next episode of Vinyl and will also appear on the latest instalment of the show’s weekly soundtrack series, Vinyl: Music from the HBO Original Series – ume 1.6 which is being released on the 18th of March 2016.
